Chris Stapleton and His Wife Morgane love story

Chris Stapleton managed to gain great success in his music career. The eight-time Grammy winner, Chris always makes things look simple but it wouldn’t have been successful without his wife, Morgane Stapleton.

The couple has been married for over 15 years and Chris states that most of the credit for his success goes to Morgane.“Make no mistake, [Morgane’s hands are] always all over everything, She’s my Jiminy Cricket in a lot of ways. She’s the voice of reason because I’m not always reasonable.” Chris told to Rare Country in 2007.

“She’s been known to make me change keys on something. She’ll be like, ‘Sing higher.’ I’m like, ‘Alright.’ I get lazy on keys sometimes. I’ll key it lower, that way I can sing it lower live. She won’t let me get lazy on stuff like that. She knows when I’m doing it, and nobody else does.” he added.

The couple treasure each other and just as being life partners, they are also business partners. They have even made songs together, let’s take a look at the journey of their love story.

When did Chris meet Morgan?

The story takes place in 2003 when Chris was working at a Nashville publishing house, he met with Morgane Hayes.

Fortunately, both of them were working as songwriters at the same Nashville publishing house. Morgane had a crush on Chris and would make excuses to come to the office, hoping she’d bump him.

“We’d hear the jingle of his keys as he walked down the hall, and we knew he was coming to play us whatever new song he had written, Eventually, he asked me to write a song with him, and that ended up being our first date. We didn’t get much writing done that night.” Morgan told to The Washington Post.

Who is Morgan Stapleton?

Morgan might not have a huge fanbase as her husband does, but she is also just as talented as Chris. Morgane holds the credit for multiple hit songs as; “Don’t Forget to Remember Me’ by Carrier Underwood in 2005, “We Tried” by Trisha Yearwood, “Stop Cheatin’ On Me”  by Kellie Pciker, and a few more.

More than being a talented singer, and songwriter, she’s also a supporter. “We’re married so we hold each other accountable, we can lift each other up on bad nights, kind of give each other a wink when we screw up or do something funny,” Chris said to The New York Times

Chris’ wife has been a helping hand in his music career as well. She has supported him by being the back vocals and has even appeared as a featured artist on popular tracks such as;  Angaleena Presley, Trace Adkins, Lee Ann Womack, Pistol Annies, and even on the country legend John Prime.

“The vast majority of the songs on my debut album, Traveller, came from lists she made,” Chris said during an interview with The Washington Post. She is the backbone of the country star.

Chris and Morgane’s Wedding

They dated for four years and the couple decided to tie the knot in Oct. 2007. The pair celebrated their 14th anniversary in Oct. 2021.

Morgane shared a note on how Chris changed her entire life after he became a part of her. “14 years today. I don’t remember much about life before you. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for hearing me. Thank you for teaching me. Thank you for respecting me,” she captioned her in her black-and-white photo.

She added; “Thank you for giving me everything I cherish in this life. I love you more than I’ll ever be able to put into words, but I’ll spend the rest of my time here on earth trying. Happy anniversary my love!”

Their love story is really sweet and even after so many years, Morgan is still surprised with how talented her husband is.

“I was like, ‘F–k you for being able to do this, this is the most emotional, saddest country song I’ve ever heard and you just spit it out in 10 minutes,” Morgan recalled.

Does Chris Stapleton have kids?

The couple are proud parents of their five children. Wayon, their oldest son, their daughter Ada, and the twins; Macon and Samuel. The couple gave birth to their fifth child in April 2019, which hasn’t been revealed to the public yet.

The couple missed their 2018 ACM Awards because of the twins. After a few days Morgane shared a photo and captioned it; “Thank you for all the love! We’re so grateful to finally be home with our sweet family. We would like to say a special thank you to all the incredible nurses & doctors at Centennial Women’s & Children’s Hospital in Nashville

At more than a month early, we had a week long stay in the nicu & the incredible people there kept our boys healthy & happy. Words cannot express our gratitude for you all & what you did for our family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!”

Chris shared that during the COVID-19 pandemic, he could finally take some time off and spend time with his family. Although the period was tragic and dreadful, it came as a blessing for the country star.

“The silver lining and the mixed blessing during the pandemic for me is I’ve gotten to spend more time being a dad and being with my children than I’ve ever gotten to do certainly as a touring musician. I have three children under the age of three and I have two older ones that are 12 and 10,” Chris told to UMG Nashville in April 2021.

He added; “When I go in to get the boys in the morning, and I open the door, they say ‘Daddy’ before I even open the door, and I’ve never really had that before. So, that’s kind of a neat thing for me to get to have that, so I’m thankful for that and I’m grateful for that. As much as I look forward to getting back out on the road, I’ll miss a little bit of that.”

Chris and Morgane have been together in everything. They have been the backbone of each other when it comes to life and business. They even often go on tours together.

“You know, our kids go on the road, my in-laws go on the road, my mom goes on the road when she feels like coming, and so we carry a good bit of actual family.” Chris told to American Country Countdown in 2018.

He added; “As an extension of that, I consider Derek [Mixon on drums] and J.T. [Cure on bass] to be family members, you know, the guys in the band, and all the guys in the crew. I want everybody to feel like they are family. We try to approach things that way. That’s always been the goal with me anytime.”

The fans also really love to see the couple performing together and sharing their love for each other. They really do lift each other’s spirit and if someone messes something up, instead of giving an angry look, they wink at each other.

Morgane is the Boss

Chris knows the proverb “Happy wife, happy life.” In an interview with Today’s Country Radio, Chris revealed that Morgane loves the limelight and handles almost everything in the house.

“Morgane doesn’t like the attention necessarily, and she does it because I do it. She likes to do it with me because I enjoy doing it.” Chris told.

She would be very happy staying home and doing mom stuff, and she likes music and she is very passionate about music, but some of the other things that are the work of music are not her favorite, but she’s invaluable as well, and she knows that as well, and we make sure that she knows that.” the country star added.

Although it’s hard for Morgane to handle everything at once, she does it by showing kindness and grace.

“That’s a hard thing for her to navigate sometimes, to be needed in so many places… we all know that she’s the boss in the room, and if it doesn’t pass her, it’s not going to pass.

That’s the way it goes.” Morgane really knows how to handle her family.
